Welcome to this breath awareness meditation. Take a moment to settle into a comfortable position, sitting tall yet relaxed. Allow your hands to rest naturally in your lap or on your thighs. Gently close your eyes, or softly lower your gaze toward the floor in front of you.
Bring your awareness into your physical body. Feel the support beneath you, holding you grounded and steady. Release any unnecessary tension in your shoulders, your jaw, and the muscles around your eyes. Allow your belly to soften completely.
Now, gently shift your attention to the natural rhythm of your breath. You do not need to change your breathing in any way. There is no need to make it deeper or slower. Simply allow your breath to flow naturally, just as it is right now.
Notice where you feel the sensation of your breath most clearly. It might be the cool air passing through your nostrils, the rising and falling of your chest, or the subtle expansion and softening of your abdomen. Choose one spot, and let it become your anchor to the present moment.
Follow the full journey of a single breath. Observe the beginning of the inhalation, the subtle pause at the top, and the smooth flow of the exhalation as the air leaves your body. With every breath out, feel yourself settling deeper into this space.
If your mind wanders to thoughts, memories, or plans, simply notice that your attention has drifted. This is completely natural. Gently acknowledge whatever arose without judgment, and softly return your focus to the rhythmic flow of your breath.
Each inhalation brings fresh awareness and presence into your body. Each exhalation carries away strain, helping you rest into the present moment. There is nowhere else you need to be right now, and nothing else you need to do.
Stay anchored in the simple physical reality of breathing. Feel the gentle motion of air moving in and moving out.
Rest here in quiet stillness for a few moments, silently following each breath in and each breath out.
You are right here, fully present, grounded in your body, resting in the quiet space of now.
Notice how your body feels in this moment. Feel the steady support beneath you and the calm presence you have cultivated within.
When you are ready, slowly begin to deepen your breathing. Bring gentle movement to your fingers and your toes. Take a deep breath in, and let it out with a soft sigh.
Take a moment to appreciate yourself for taking this time to practice. Slowly open your eyes, bringing this calm presence with you as you return to your day.
