Morning Mindfulness
Welcome to this new day. Before the world asks anything of you, take this moment for yourself. Find a comfortable position, either sitting up in bed or in a chair. Let your hands rest gently. Allow your eyes to close, or soften your gaze downward.
Begin by noticing your breath. You do not need to change it. Simply feel it as it is. The cool air entering. The warm air leaving.
Now take one slow, deep breath in through your nose. And release it slowly through your mouth.
With each breath, you arrive more fully in this moment. Here. Now. This is the beginning of your day.
Notice your body. Feel the weight of your body resting. Notice your feet, your legs, your back. Scan slowly from your toes to the top of your head, releasing any tension you find.
Let your shoulders drop. Let your jaw soften. Let your forehead smooth.
Now bring your attention to your mind. Thoughts may already be arriving, plans, worries, lists. This is natural. You do not need to push them away. Simply notice them like clouds passing through a clear sky.
Beneath the thoughts, there is a quiet space. A stillness. Breathe into that stillness.
As you sit here, set a gentle intention for today. Not a demand. Not a goal to achieve. Simply a quality you wish to carry with you. Perhaps patience. Perhaps kindness. Perhaps curiosity.
Hold that intention softly in your heart, like a small candle flame.
Now feel the aliveness in your body. Your heart beating. Your lungs breathing. You are here. You are awake. You are ready.
Take one more deep breath in. And as you exhale, let your intention settle into your whole body.
When you are ready, gently wiggle your fingers and toes. Roll your shoulders. Slowly open your eyes.
Carry this calm, this clarity, into your morning. The day is ahead of you. Meet it one breath at a time.
Thank you for practicing. Have a mindful day.
