Welcome to this practice of gratitude and contentment. Take a moment to find a comfortable position, sitting or lying down. Allow your body to settle gently into the space around you.
Close your eyes softly, or lower your gaze to a fixed point in front of you. Begin to draw your attention inward, turning away from the busy world outside.
Take a deep, slow breath in through your nose, filling your lungs completely. Hold for a moment, then release it fully through your mouth with a sigh. Feel your shoulders drop and your jaw relax.
Bring your focus to the simple act of breathing. Notice the rhythm of your breath as it moves in and out. You do not need to change anything about it. Just observe the quiet miracle of your body breathing itself, keeping you alive and supported in this very moment.
Now, gently shift your awareness to your heart center, in the middle of your chest. Imagine a soft, warm glow resting right there. With every breath, this warmth expands slightly, bringing a feeling of ease and stillness to your body.
As you rest in this quiet space, bring to mind one simple thing in your life that you are thankful for today. It does not need to be grand. It could be the warmth of morning tea, the comfort of your bed, or the soft sunlight resting on your skin.
Hold this image or thought in your mind. Notice how it feels to focus on this single gift. Allow appreciation to wash over you like a gentle wave, spreading warmth through your chest and limbs.
Notice how contentment feels in your physical body. You may feel a slight softening in your muscles, a subtle smile at the corners of your lips, or a sense of stillness in your mind. There is nowhere to go and nothing to fix. In this moment, you have enough, and you are enough.
Take another gentle breath in, receiving this feeling of appreciation fully. And as you exhale, let the gratitude settle deeply into your heart.
Think of another small comfort in your day, something you often take for granted. Perhaps it is the air in your lungs, the shelter above your head, or the simple safety of this moment. Let yourself feel a quiet thankfulness for its presence in your life.
Allow this sense of warmth and abundance to fill your whole body. Gratitude is always available to you, living right here within your breath and your heart.
Slowly begin to bring your awareness back to the room around you. Feel the support of the surface beneath you. Notice the sounds nearby.
Take a slightly deeper breath in, bringing fresh energy into your body.
When you feel ready, gently wiggle your fingers and toes, and slowly open your eyes, carrying this gentle feeling of contentment with you into the rest of your day.
