Welcome to this breath awareness meditation. Take a moment to settle into a comfortable position, sitting tall yet relaxed. Allow your hands to rest gently in your lap or on your knees. When you are ready, gently close your eyes, or soften your gaze toward the floor.
Begin by taking a deep, refreshing breath in through your nose, filling your lungs completely. Exhale slowly through your mouth, letting go of any tension in your shoulders, jaw, or belly.
Bring your awareness to the natural rhythm of your breathing. You do not need to change it or force it to be any particular way. Simply observe your body breathing naturally. Notice where you feel the breath most distinctly. Perhaps you feel the cool air entering your nostrils, the gentle rising and falling of your chest, or the subtle expansion of your abdomen.
Rest your focus right at that spot. Allow that sensation to be your anchor to this present moment.
As you sit here, you may notice your mind beginning to wander. You might think about your day, your tasks, or various thoughts. This is completely natural. When you realize your mind has drifted, acknowledge it with kindness. Gently, without judgment, bring your focus right back to your breath.
Inhaling, you know you are inhaling. Exhaling, you know you are exhaling. Feel the full journey of each breath, from the moment air enters your body to the quiet space right before the next breath starts.
Notice how your breath is always happening right here, right now. Every inhale brings fresh presence. Every exhale releases what you no longer need. Allow yourself to rest completely in this simple flow.
If your mind wanders again, simply smile to yourself and return to the gentle rise and fall of your body. Nothing else needs your attention right now. You are safe, grounded, and fully present.
Stay with this feeling for a few moments, grounded in the steady rhythm of your breathing.
Now, gradually expand your awareness outward. Notice the feeling of the support beneath you. Listen to any subtle sounds around you in the room.
Take one final deep breath in, filling your body with calm energy, and exhale completely.
When you feel ready, gently wiggle your fingers and toes, and slowly open your eyes, bringing this calm presence with you into your day.
