Welcome to this gentle body scan meditation. Find a comfortable position, either sitting upright or lying down on your back. Allow your eyes to softly close, or keep a soft focus on a point in front of you.
Begin by taking a deep, full breath in through your nose, filling your lungs completely. Hold it for a moment, and then release it slowly through your mouth, letting go of any initial tightness.
Bring your attention down to your feet. Feel your toes, the soles of your feet, and your heels making contact with the surface beneath you. Notice any sensations here without judgment. Allow warmth and softness to spread through your feet, dissolving any tension stored in your toes and ankles.
Now, slowly move your awareness up into your lower legs, your calves, and your shins. Notice if you are holding any tightness here. As you breathe out, invite these muscles to soften and relax completely.
Shift your focus higher, up through your knees and into your thighs. Your legs carry you through every day, and they deserve this rest. Let your thighs feel heavy, supported, and deeply relaxed.
Gently bring your awareness to your hips, pelvis, and lower back. This area often holds stress and emotional tension. Take a slow breath into your lower back, and as you exhale, feel the muscles uncoil and melt into comfort.
Move your attention up to your stomach and chest. Feel the natural, soothing rhythm of your breath rising and falling. With every breath in, you bring gentle space and energy into your body. With every breath out, you release what no longer serves you.
Allow your attention to drift to your upper back, your shoulders, and your neck. Shoulders often carry the weight of your day. Let them drop down away from your ears. Feel the tension unraveling from your neck and upper back with ease.
Send your focus down your arms, past your elbows and forearms, all the way to your wrists, hands, and fingertips. Let your hands uncurl and rest in complete ease.
Now, bring your soft focus to your head and face. Soften your jaw, letting your teeth part slightly. Smooth the skin across your forehead, release the tiny muscles around your eyes, and let your whole face become calm and peaceful.
Take a moment to feel your body as a single, complete whole. From the top of your head down to the tips of your toes, feel the quiet space you have created inside. You are grounded, peaceful, and fully present.
When you feel ready, begin to bring small movements back to your fingers and toes. Take one last deep breath in, and release it completely. Slowly open your eyes, taking this feeling of ease with you into the rest of your day.
