Welcome to this body scan meditation. Take a moment to find a comfortable position, sitting or lying down. Allow your eyes to gently close, or keep a soft focus on the space in front of you.
Begin by taking a deep, slow breath in through your nose, filling your lungs completely. As you exhale through your mouth, release any initial tightness in your body.
Bring your awareness to the very top of your head. Feel your scalp relaxing. Notice your forehead, smoothing out any worry or concentration. Soften the tiny muscles around your eyes. Allow your jaw to unclench, letting your tongue rest gently on the floor of your mouth.
Now, shift your attention down into your neck and shoulders. This is a place where many of us carry daily stress. Notice whatever sensations are present here without trying to force anything. With your next breath out, imagine your shoulders dropping an inch lower, releasing holding patterns.
Travel down your arms, past your elbows, through your wrists, and into your hands and fingers. You might feel a gentle warmth, a subtle tingling, or simply the contact of your hands resting. Let your hands relax completely.
Shift your focus to your chest and upper back. Feel the gentle rise and fall of your chest with each breath. Notice your heart beating inside your chest. As you inhale, create space. As you exhale, soften any tightness around your chest and upper spine.
Move your attention lower, into your belly and lower back. Allow your stomach to be completely soft. Let go of any desire to hold it in. Feel your belly rise naturally as you inhale, and sink as you exhale.
Now bring your awareness into your hips, pelvis, and glutes. Feel the support beneath you, holding you grounded and secure. Let any gripping in your hips soften with every outward breath.
Guide your focus down through your thighs, past your knees, into your calves, ankles, and feet. Notice where your body makes contact with the floor or the bed beneath you. Sense your feet and toes relaxing into total stillness.
Now, expand your awareness to sweep across your entire body at once. From the crown of your head to the tips of your toes, feel yourself breathing as one complete whole.
If there is any remaining area of tension, send your next breath directly into that spot. Imagine the breath loosening the knot, letting the tension wash away on the exhale.
Rest in this state of peaceful presence and connection with your physical body.
When you are ready, slowly begin to bring small movements back to your fingers and toes. Take one more deep, nourishing breath.
Gently open your eyes, taking this feeling of ease and presence with you into the rest of your day.
