Begin by finding a comfortable position. Allow your body to settle, resting your hands gently in your lap or by your sides. Close your eyes if that feels right for you, or softly lower your gaze. Take a moment to notice the space you are in, acknowledging the surface supporting you. Let go of any tension in your shoulders, allowing them to drop naturally. You have arrived.

Bring your attention to the natural rhythm of your breathing. There is no need to change or control it. Simply observe the breath as it enters and leaves your body. Notice the cool air flowing in through your nose, and the slightly warmer air flowing out.

Follow the journey of a single breath. Feel the gentle expansion of your chest and the slight rise of your belly as you inhale. Experience the soft release and relaxation as you exhale. Each breath is an anchor, keeping you tethered to this exact moment.

If your mind begins to wander, know that this is completely normal. Thoughts will come and go like clouds passing across a clear sky. When you notice your attention drifting to plans, memories, or worries, gently acknowledge the thought without judgment. Then, softly guide your focus back to the sensation of breathing.

Feel the physical sensation of the breath right now. Perhaps you feel it most clearly at the tip of your nose, in the back of your throat, or deep in your abdomen. Wherever the sensation is strongest, let your awareness rest there.

Breathe in, knowing you are breathing in. Breathe out, knowing you are breathing out. Let every inhale bring a sense of calm to your body. Let every exhale wash away unnecessary tension. You are entirely present, grounded by the steady rhythm of your own life force.

Notice the brief pause at the top of your inhale, just before the breath turns around.

And notice the quiet space at the bottom of your exhale, right before the next breath begins.

In these tiny spaces between breaths, you can find complete stillness.

Keep your attention resting lightly on the breath. If the mind wanders again, simply smile at the wandering, and return to the anchor. One breath at a time.

There is nowhere else you need to be. There is nothing else you need to do right now. Just sit, and breathe.

As we draw this practice to a close, slowly expand your awareness outward.

Notice the physical sensation of your body resting in its space. Feel the temperature of the air on your skin.

Take one more deep, intentional breath in, filling your lungs completely. And release it with a soft sigh.

Whenever you are ready, gently open your eyes, bringing this calm presence with you into the rest of your day.
