Welcome to this guided meditation for cultivating gratitude.

Find a comfortable position, either sitting upright with your spine long and relaxed, or lying down, allowing your body to be fully supported by the surface beneath you. Close your eyes gently, or soften your gaze.

Take a moment to simply arrive. Release any tension you might be holding in your shoulders, your jaw, your forehead. Let it all go with your next exhale.

Begin to bring your awareness to your breath. Notice the gentle rhythm of your inhale and exhale. You don’t need to change it, just observe. Feel the air entering your nostrils, filling your lungs, and then gently leaving your body.

With each breath, allow yourself to sink a little deeper into this present moment. This moment is all we ever truly have.

Now, let’s begin to invite feelings of gratitude into your awareness. Think of one simple thing you are grateful for today. It could be something as small as a warm cup of tea, the comfort of your home, or the sunshine on your face.

Allow yourself to truly feel the appreciation for this simple gift. Notice what sensations arise in your body as you focus on this feeling of thankfulness.

Perhaps you feel a warmth in your chest, a gentle softening around your eyes, or a slight smile playing on your lips. Just observe these sensations without judgment.

Now, bring to mind another source of gratitude. This time, perhaps consider a person in your life who has shown you kindness or support. It could be a friend, a family member, a colleague, or even a stranger.

Picture this person in your mind’s eye. Imagine their presence, and feel the warmth of their impact on your life. Allow the feeling of gratitude for them to expand within you.

For a moment, let your breath be a vessel for this feeling. Inhale, drawing in the energy of gratitude. Exhale, sending it out like a gentle ripple.

Consider something in nature that brings you peace or wonder. It could be the vastness of the sky, the strength of a tree, or the beauty of a flower.

Connect with that sense of awe and appreciation. Recognize the interconnectedness of all things, and your place within this beautiful tapestry of life.

Let the feeling of contentment wash over you. You are in this moment, breathing, existing, and surrounded by things to be thankful for.

Bring your awareness back to your breath, that constant companion. Feel its steady rhythm, a gentle anchor in this present moment.

Know that this feeling of gratitude is always accessible to you. You can return to it whenever you wish, simply by turning your attention inward.

As we prepare to close this meditation, take one last moment to acknowledge all that you have felt and experienced. Carry this sense of appreciation with you as you move through the rest of your day.

Gently wiggle your fingers and toes. Slowly begin to bring your awareness back to the room around you. When you are ready, open your eyes.

May you be filled with gratitude.
