Welcome to this morning mindfulness meditation. Find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down. Allow your body to settle, to release any tension it might be holding from your sleep.
Gently close your eyes, or soften your gaze if that feels more comfortable. Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose. Feel the cool air fill your lungs.
And exhale slowly through your mouth. Let go of any lingering thoughts from the night.
Begin to notice the sensation of your breath. It’s a gentle rhythm, always present, always supporting you. You don’t need to change it, just observe it. Feel the rise and fall of your chest or your abdomen with each inhale and exhale.
Notice the temperature of the air as it enters and leaves your nostrils. Is it cool? Is it warm?
Allow your awareness to expand, to encompass the entire body. Feel the support beneath you, whether it’s a chair, a bed, or the ground.
Bring your attention to your feet. Wiggle your toes. Feel them connected to the earth.
Slowly move your awareness up your legs. Notice any sensations. Any warmth, any coolness, any tingling.
Allow your hips and pelvis to relax. Let them sink down, becoming heavier.
Bring your awareness to your torso. Feel the gentle expansion of your belly as you breathe in, and the soft release as you breathe out.
Notice your shoulders. Let them drop away from your ears. Release any tightness you might be holding here.
Feel the muscles in your arms soften. Your hands resting gently.
Bring your attention to your neck and your jaw. Unclench your jaw. Let your tongue rest softly in your mouth.
Allow your forehead to smooth. Release any furrowing of your brow.
Now, bring your attention back to your breath. As you inhale, imagine you are breathing in clarity. A fresh, bright energy filling your entire being.
As you exhale, imagine you are releasing any fog, any uncertainty, any mental clutter from the night.
With each inhale, invite in a sense of calm and presence. With each exhale, let go of what no longer serves you for this new day.
There is nowhere else you need to be, nothing else you need to do, in this moment. Just be here, with your breath, with yourself.
Allow this feeling of calm presence to permeate your entire being. This is your anchor for the day ahead.
As we prepare to conclude this meditation, gently bring your awareness back to the room around you. Notice the subtle sounds. The quality of the light.
Take one more deep, conscious breath. Inhale deeply, filling your lungs completely.
And exhale slowly, feeling refreshed and centered.
When you are ready, slowly open your eyes, bringing this sense of clarity and presence with you into the rest of your morning. Have a wonderful day.
