Welcome to this practice of self-compassion. Find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down. Allow your eyes to gently close.

Take a deep breath in, filling your lungs completely. And as you exhale, let go of any tension you might be holding.

Another deep breath in, feeling the air move through your body. And a slow, gentle exhale, releasing the day.

Bring your awareness now to your physical body. Notice the points of contact between you and the surface beneath you. Feel the weight of your body being supported.

Allow your breath to settle into its natural rhythm. No need to change it, just observe it. The gentle rise and fall of your chest, or your belly.

Now, bring to mind a situation that has recently caused you some difficulty or stress. It doesn't need to be a major crisis, just something that has brought up feelings of inadequacy, frustration, or pain.

As you hold this situation gently in your awareness, notice what emotions arise. Perhaps there is sadness, anxiety, or a feeling of being overwhelmed.

There is no right or wrong way to feel. Simply acknowledge whatever is present for you, without judgment. This is part of the human experience.

Now, imagine you are speaking to a dear friend who is going through the exact same situation. What words of kindness and understanding would you offer them? What tone of voice would you use?

Bring that same gentleness and kindness inward, towards yourself. Recognize that you, too, are human. You are not alone in experiencing struggles, setbacks, or moments of feeling less than perfect.

Place one hand gently over your heart, or on your belly, wherever it feels comforting. Feel the warmth of your hand.

Silently, or in a whisper, offer yourself a phrase of self-compassion. Something like, "May I be kind to myself in this moment." Or, "This is a moment of suffering, and suffering is a part of life."

Repeat this phrase to yourself, letting the words sink in. Feel the intention behind them, the gentle embrace of your own awareness.

Allow yourself to receive this kindness. Let it soften any harsh self-criticism or judgment you may be holding.

Remember that it's okay to not be okay sometimes. It's okay to make mistakes. It's okay to be imperfect. This is the essence of being human.

Now, gently bring your awareness back to your breath. Feel the gentle flow of air.

Take a moment to thank yourself for engaging in this practice of self-compassion today. You are cultivating a more loving and accepting relationship with yourself.

Slowly begin to deepen your breath. Wiggle your fingers and toes.

When you feel ready, gently open your eyes. Carry this sense of kindness and acceptance with you as you move forward.
