Welcome to this guided meditation for releasing tension and finding deep calm.

Find a comfortable position, either seated or lying down. Allow your body to settle. Gently close your eyes, or soften your gaze if that feels more comfortable for you.

Take a deep breath in, filling your lungs completely. And as you exhale, let go of any initial tension you might be holding.

Another deep breath in. And with this exhale, allow your shoulders to drop away from your ears. Feel them becoming heavy, relaxed.

Now, bring your awareness to your breath. You don't need to change it in any way. Simply notice the gentle rhythm of your inhale and your exhale. Feel the air entering your body, and feel it leaving your body.

Begin to scan your body, starting at the top of your head. Notice any sensations present. There's no need to judge them, simply observe.

Gently bring your awareness down to your forehead and your eyes. Notice if you are holding any tension here. With your next exhale, imagine that tension melting away like snow in the sun.

Move your awareness to your jaw. Often we hold unconscious tension in our jaw. Allow your jaw to unhinge slightly, letting it hang heavy and relaxed.

Now, bring your attention to your neck and your shoulders. Feel the weight of your shoulders. Allow gravity to do its work, releasing any tightness you might be carrying. Imagine a warm wave washing over your shoulders, dissolving tension.

Continue this gentle scan down your arms, to your elbows, your forearms, and your wrists. Feel your hands becoming heavy and relaxed. Let go of any gripping or clenching.

Bring your awareness to your chest and your abdomen. Notice the gentle rise and fall with each breath. Allow your belly to be soft.

Now, shift your attention to your lower back and your hips. Often we store a lot of tension in this area. Imagine this tension softening, unraveling. Feel your hips becoming heavy, sinking deeper into your support.

Continue down your legs, to your knees, your calves, and your ankles. Feel your legs growing heavy and relaxed, from your hips all the way down to your toes.

Finally, bring your awareness to your feet. Feel the soles of your feet connecting with the ground or your support. Let go of any remaining tension in your toes.

Now, with your entire body feeling more relaxed, return your awareness to your breath. Feel the gentle rhythm of your inhale and your exhale. Allow yourself to simply be present with this sensation. You are safe. You are calm.

As you continue to breathe, allow a feeling of deep peace to spread throughout your entire being. Imagine this peace radiating from the center of your chest.

You are resting. You are still. You are deeply relaxed.

Carry this feeling of calm with you as you gently begin to deepen your breath. Wiggle your fingers and toes. When you are ready, slowly open your eyes, bringing this sense of peace back into your day.
