Welcome. Find a comfortable position now, lying down in a way that feels most supportive and relaxing for your body. Allow yourself to settle in, to feel the surface beneath you holding you completely.
Begin by gently closing your eyes, if they are not already. And with each exhale, allow your body to become a little heavier, a little more relaxed. There is nothing you need to do right now, nowhere you need to be. Simply allow yourself to be here, in this moment.
Bring your awareness to your breath. Notice the natural rhythm of your inhale and your exhale. You don’t need to change it, just observe it. Feel the air entering your nostrils, cool and refreshing. And feel it leaving, a little warmer, carrying away any tension.
Allow your breath to become a gentle anchor, a soft focal point. With each inhale, imagine you are breathing in a sense of calm. And with each exhale, release any lingering thoughts or worries of the day. Let them float away like clouds in a vast blue sky.
Now, bring your attention to your toes. Notice any sensations there. Perhaps a warmth, a tingling, or simply a sense of being present. Allow your toes to soften and relax. Release any clenching or holding.
Move your awareness up to your feet. Feel your arches, your heels, the soles of your feet. Let any tightness dissolve. Imagine a wave of relaxation washing over your feet, smoothing out every muscle and nerve.
Continue this journey of relaxation up your legs. Feel your ankles relaxing, your calves softening. Allow your knees to release any tension. And feel your thighs becoming heavy and deeply relaxed. Your legs are now completely at ease.
Bring your awareness to your hips and your lower back. Often, we hold tension in this area. Gently invite relaxation to soften these muscles. Imagine any knots of tension unraveling, releasing with each exhale.
Now, feel your abdomen softening. Allow your belly to rise and fall with your breath. There is no need to hold it in. Just let it be soft and relaxed.
Move your attention to your chest and your heart space. Feel the gentle expansion and contraction with each breath. Allow a sense of peace to fill your chest.
Bring your awareness to your shoulders. Often, we carry the weight of the world here. Imagine your shoulders dropping away from your ears, becoming heavy and loose. Release any burdens you might be holding onto.
Feel this wave of relaxation flowing down your arms, through your elbows, your forearms, your wrists, and into your hands and fingers. Your arms are heavy, limp, and completely relaxed.
Now, bring your awareness to your neck and throat. Soften your jaw. Let your tongue rest gently in your mouth. Allow your facial muscles to relax. Your forehead smooths out. Your eyes feel heavy and soft behind your closed lids.
Feel your entire body now, from the tips of your toes to the crown of your head, bathed in a warm, soothing wave of relaxation. You are deeply peaceful. You are completely at ease.
As you continue to breathe, allow your awareness to drift. If thoughts arise, simply acknowledge them without judgment, and gently guide your attention back to the feeling of your breath, or the sensation of relaxation in your body.
You are safe. You are supported. You are ready for deep, restorative sleep. Allow yourself to surrender to the gentle pull of slumber. Drift away, peacefully and effortlessly.
Sleep now.
