Nurture kindness and acceptance toward yourself

Welcome to this practice of self-compassion. Find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down. Allow your body to settle, to soften into this space.
Gently close your eyes, or if you prefer, soften your gaze downward. Let go of any tension you might be holding in your jaw, your shoulders, your hands. Just allow yourself to be here, now.
Bring your awareness to your breath. Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest, or the subtle expansion of your belly. There’s no need to change your breath in any way. Simply observe its natural rhythm.
Feel the air entering your nostrils, a little cooler. And feel it leaving, a little warmer. A simple, constant rhythm that supports you.
Now, bring to mind a situation that has recently caused you some difficulty or discomfort. It doesn't need to be a major crisis, just something that has stirred up a feeling of stress or unease within you.
As you recall this situation, notice any feelings that arise. Perhaps frustration, sadness, disappointment, or even a sense of inadequacy. Whatever you feel is perfectly okay.
Recognize that suffering is a part of the human experience. You are not alone in experiencing these kinds of feelings. Everyone, at some point, faces challenges and feels pain.
Now, let's offer ourselves some kindness. Imagine a gentle, warm light emanating from your heart. This light is filled with unconditional acceptance and warmth.
Direct this warm light towards yourself, embracing the feelings that have arisen. Speak these words to yourself, either silently or in a whisper: "May I be kind to myself in this moment."
Allow these words to sink in. Feel the warmth and gentleness of this intention.
Now, consider the imperfections and struggles you sometimes experience. The times you might fall short of your own expectations, or when things don't go as planned. These are also part of being human.
Repeat these words to yourself: "May I accept myself just as I am, with all my flaws and imperfections."
Breathe in deeply. And as you exhale, release any self-judgment or criticism you may be holding. Let it go.
Bring to mind another aspect of yourself that you find challenging. Perhaps a habit you wish to change, or a fear you grapple with. Whatever it is, approach it with compassion.
Say to yourself: "May I be patient with myself as I navigate these difficulties."
Feel the sense of spaciousness and understanding that this intention brings. You are learning, you are growing, and that is enough.
Now, we will bring this practice to a close. Gently bring your awareness back to your breath, to the sensation of your body in this space.
Wiggle your fingers and toes. Slowly begin to deepen your breath, feeling the energy returning to your body.
When you are ready, gently open your eyes. Carry this feeling of self-compassion with you throughout your day. Remember, you are worthy of kindness, understanding, and acceptance, always.
