Welcome. Find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down. Allow your body to settle. Gently close your eyes, or soften your gaze downwards.
Take a deep breath in, filling your lungs. And exhale slowly, releasing any tension you might be holding.
With each breath, you can begin to relax your body. Feel your shoulders soften. Your jaw unclench. Your hands rest gently.
Now, bring your awareness to your breath. Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest or abdomen. There’s no need to change anything. Just observe the natural rhythm of your breath.
Breathing in, you are present. Breathing out, you are at ease.
Today, we will cultivate a feeling of gratitude. Gratitude is a powerful emotion that can shift our perspective, bringing us contentment and joy.
Begin by bringing to mind something, anything, for which you feel grateful right now. It could be something big or something small. Perhaps the comfort of your seat, or the warmth of the air around you.
Allow this feeling to gently emerge. Feel the sensation of appreciation in your body.
Now, consider the people in your life. Think of someone who has brought you joy, support, or kindness. Visualize their face, or simply hold them in your mind. Feel the gratitude you have for their presence in your life.
Take a moment to truly savor this feeling. Let it wash over you.
You might consider a simple pleasure. The taste of your morning coffee, the beauty of a sunset, the feeling of sunshine on your skin. What small wonders do you often overlook?
Bring one of these simple pleasures to mind now. And feel a gentle wave of gratitude.
Now, expand your awareness to your surroundings. Think about the roof over your head, the food that nourishes you, the water that sustains you. These are gifts that we often take for granted.
As you acknowledge these fundamental aspects of your life, allow a deeper sense of appreciation to bloom. Feel the security, the abundance, the simple fact of being here.
Bring your attention back to your breath. Inhale gratitude. Exhale contentment.
Continue to hold these feelings of gratitude gently in your awareness. There is no judgment, no striving, just simple appreciation.
Notice how this feeling settles within you. A quiet sense of peace. A feeling of being enough, right here, right now.
You are not required to feel intense emotion. Just a gentle awareness of what is good.
As we prepare to bring this meditation to a close, take one more deep breath in, carrying this gratitude with you. And exhale slowly, releasing it fully.
Gently begin to bring your awareness back to the room. Wiggle your fingers and toes. Feel the weight of your body.
When you are ready, slowly open your eyes. Carry this sense of appreciation with you throughout your day.
