Welcome. Find a comfortable position. Allow your body to settle. You can be seated or lying down. Whatever feels most natural and supportive for you right now.
Gently close your eyes, or soften your gaze if that feels more comfortable. Bring your awareness to your breath. No need to change it, just notice it. Feel the gentle rise and fall of your chest or abdomen with each inhale and exhale.
Allow your breath to be your anchor in this present moment. Feel the air as it enters your nostrils, cool and refreshing. And feel it as it leaves, warm and releasing.
Now, begin to bring to mind something, anything, for which you feel a sense of gratitude. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. It can be something small and simple. Perhaps the warmth of the sun on your skin today. Or the comfort of your clothing.
Allow that feeling of gratitude to bloom within you. Notice where you feel it in your body. Is it a warmth in your chest? A softening in your shoulders? A sense of lightness?
Let’s expand this feeling. Think of a person in your life who has shown you kindness. Someone who has made a positive difference. Picture their face, their smile. Feel the warmth of that connection.
Breathe into that feeling of appreciation for them. Allow the gratitude to flow through you, a silent thank you. You don’t need to articulate it, just feel it.
Now, turn your attention to the simple gifts of nature. Perhaps the beauty of a tree outside your window. The sound of birds singing. The vastness of the sky.
Acknowledge the intricate web of life that sustains you. The air you breathe, the water you drink, the food you eat. All of these are gifts, freely given.
As you continue to breathe, allow the feeling of contentment to arise. Gratitude is the soil in which contentment grows. Notice any areas of tension in your body and gently invite them to release with each exhale.
Let your awareness expand to include the present moment itself. The simple fact that you are here, experiencing this life, is something to be thankful for.
Bring to mind another thing you are grateful for. Perhaps a skill you possess, a talent you have, or a lesson you have learned.
Feel the richness and abundance that already exists in your life. Often, we overlook the treasures that are right in front of us.
Allow yourself to bask in this feeling of gratitude for a few more moments. Let it fill your entire being. You are worthy of all the good things in your life.
Gently bring your awareness back to your breath. Feel the gentle rhythm, a constant companion. When you feel ready, you can begin to wiggle your fingers and toes.
Slowly, gently, open your eyes. Carry this feeling of gratitude with you as you move forward into your day. You can return to this feeling of appreciation whenever you wish.
