Welcome. Find a comfortable position, either sitting upright with your spine supported or lying down. Gently close your eyes if that feels good for you. Take a moment to settle into this space.
Begin by bringing your awareness to your breath. Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest or abdomen with each inhale and exhale. There's no need to change anything about your breath, just observe it.
Feel the air entering your nostrils, cool and fresh. Feel it leaving, warm and soft. Allow your breath to become your anchor.
Now, let's bring our awareness down to our feet. Start with your toes. Notice any sensations present. Perhaps you feel warmth, or coolness, maybe a slight tingling. There's no right or wrong way to feel.
Simply acknowledge what is. Move your awareness up to the soles of your feet. Feel the contact your feet are making with the surface beneath them. Notice the arch, the heel.
Continue moving your attention up to your ankles. Feel the gentle pressure, the structure of these joints.
Bring your awareness to your lower legs, your calves and shins. Feel the skin, the muscles. Is there any tightness or holding here? Just notice, without judgment.
Now, gently scan your knees. Feel the bony prominences, the soft tissue surrounding them.
Move your awareness up to your thighs. Feel the weight of your legs. Allow them to feel heavy and supported.
Bring your attention to your hips and pelvis. Feel the deep connection to the earth. Allow this area to soften and release any accumulated tension.
Now, let's move to your torso. Bring your awareness to your abdomen. Notice the gentle movement of your breath here.
Scan your lower back, feeling any sensations. Allow your lower back to be supported.
Bring your attention to your chest, feeling the expansion and contraction with each breath. Notice the gentle beating of your heart.
Move your awareness to your upper back and shoulders. Shoulders are often places where we hold tension. See if you can allow them to drop away from your ears.
Feel your arms. Start with your upper arms, then your elbows, your forearms, and finally your hands and fingers. Notice the sensations in your fingertips.
Now, bring your awareness to your neck and throat. Allow this area to relax. Release any holding you might be doing here.
Finally, bring your attention to your head and face. Relax your jaw. Soften the muscles around your eyes. Let your forehead be smooth and calm.
Take a moment to appreciate your entire body, from the tips of your toes to the crown of your head. You have brought awareness to each part of yourself. Feel the sense of wholeness.
As we begin to close, gently deepen your breath. Wiggle your fingers and toes. Slowly, when you are ready, open your eyes. Carry this feeling of presence and relaxation with you into the rest of your day.
