Welcome to this practice of breath awareness. Find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down. Allow your body to settle, letting go of any tension you might be holding.

Gently close your eyes, or soften your gaze. Begin to bring your awareness to your breath. There's no need to change it in any way. Simply notice the natural rhythm of your inhales and exhales.

Feel the air as it enters your nostrils. Notice its temperature, perhaps cool as it enters. And then feel it as it leaves your body. Perhaps warmer as it exits.

Your breath is an anchor, always present. Always bringing you back to this very moment. Observe the gentle rise and fall of your chest or abdomen with each breath.

If your mind wanders, as minds often do, that's perfectly okay. There's no judgment here. Simply notice where your mind has gone, and gently guide your attention back to the sensation of your breath. It's like training a puppy. Each time it wanders, you gently bring it back.

Feel the sensation of expansion as you inhale. Your lungs filling with life-giving air. And feel the sensation of release as you exhale. Letting go of whatever is no longer needed.

Continue to observe. The subtle shifts and movements within your body. The flow of breath in and out. There is nothing else you need to do right now. Nothing else to think about.

Just this breath. This present moment. Feel the weight of your body supported. Supported by the chair, the floor, the bed. You are held.

Allow each exhale to deepen a sense of relaxation. As you breathe out, imagine releasing any worries, any stresses. Let them dissolve with the outgoing breath.

Inhale peace. Exhale tension. Inhale calm. Exhale busyness.

You are here. You are breathing. This is the essence of being present. Allow yourself to simply be with the breath. There's a profound stillness that can be found here.

Feel the breath move through your entire body. Perhaps you can sense it in your fingertips, your toes. A gentle wave of aliveness.

As we begin to prepare to close this meditation, gently bring your awareness back to the room around you. Notice the sounds. Feel the air on your skin.

Wiggle your fingers and toes. Take a deeper breath in, and a slow exhale out. When you are ready, gently open your eyes. Carry this sense of calm and presence with you into the rest of your day.
