Welcome. Find a comfortable position, whether sitting or lying down. Allow your body to settle, feeling the support beneath you.
Gently close your eyes, or soften your gaze. Bring your awareness to your breath.
Notice the natural rhythm of your inhales and exhales. No need to change anything, just observe. Feel the gentle rise and fall of your chest or abdomen.
As you breathe, begin to bring to mind a situation you're currently finding challenging. Something that has brought you a sense of difficulty or stress.
Choose something that feels manageable, not overwhelming. Just a gentle acknowledgement of a present struggle.
Now, on your next exhale, imagine releasing some of the tension associated with this challenge. Let it go, just for this moment.
Bring your attention to the feelings that arise. Perhaps there's a tightness in your chest, a knot in your stomach, or a racing mind. Acknowledge these physical sensations without judgment.
These feelings are a part of being human. They are a natural response to difficulty.
Now, imagine offering yourself a gentle, warm kindness. Like you would offer to a dear friend who is struggling.
Place your hand gently over your heart, or wherever feels comforting to you. Feel the warmth of your own touch.
Silently repeat these phrases to yourself, or variations that resonate with you.
"This is a moment of suffering."
"Suffering is a part of life."
"May I be kind to myself in this moment."
"May I give myself the compassion I need."
Repeat these phrases again, allowing the words to sink in. Feel the intention behind them.
This is a moment of suffering. Suffering is a part of life. May I be kind to myself in this moment. May I give myself the compassion I need.
Notice if the sensations in your body shift even slightly. Perhaps a softening, a release.
Remember that you are not alone in experiencing difficulties. Everyone faces challenges. It is part of the shared human experience.
You are worthy of kindness and understanding, especially from yourself.
Continue to breathe, allowing your breath to be a gentle anchor. With each inhale, breathe in acceptance. With each exhale, breathe out judgment.
Bring your awareness back to your body, feeling its presence. Wiggle your fingers and toes.
When you are ready, gently open your eyes. Carry this sense of self-compassion with you as you move forward.
